We are seeking an outgoing and experienced Camp Counselor to join our team! Ideal candidates are organized, collaborative,
nurturing, responsible, adaptable and FUN! This position would be working with children between 2 and six years of age. Camp runs for seven consecutive weeks, beginning June 29, 2026. A camp counselor will work Monday through Friday from 8::30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. with a thirty-minute lunch break.

Essential Functions (will vary, but commonly include):
1. Program Development: Assist in planning and implementing daily activities based on
predetermined themes. (Wild Animals, Circus, Ocean, Pirate Adventures, Camping,
Insects & Color Blast)
2. Program Execution: Manage daily activities for Summer Camp and maintain proper staff-
to-child ratios.
3. Learning Environment: Prepare fun and creative spaces for exploration and hands-on
activities based on themes, and gather materials.
4. Child Interaction: Treat children with respect, supervise them, and maintain a positive
relationship with parents children and coworkers.
5. Program Maintenance: Keep classroom, play equipment, and OCFS required records in
good order (attendance and health checks); perform general housekeeping duties.
6. Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols and adhere to organizational policies,
including dress code and punctuality.
7. Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional attitude and participate in planned
summer activities.
8. Inclusivity and Participation: Ensure inclusivity and engagement in group activities for all
children.
Qualifications:
1. High school graduate or equivalent
2. Previous experience working with children, preferably in a professional childcare setting
3. At least 18 years of age
4. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
Compensation: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
Established in 1973, our non-profit organization is devoted to promoting standards of excellence in Montessori education. With five staff members, Canandaigua Montessori School now serves a total of 50 children, ages 18 months through 6 years of age. We currently offer toddler, primary, and kindergarten programs. Our curriculum covers a variety of subjects including math, science, literature, the arts, history, social issues, and the study of technology. Weather permitting, our children will have ample time for outdoor physical activity and fun.
